About Gail

Why Use a Kiwi for your logo?

(1) It is a food and I'm a dietitian-too obvious?

(2) I have a pet bird and his name is Kiwi.

(3) It represents self acceptance. We live in a society where outside appearances are what we tend to focus on and we forget who we are on the inside. This is not healthy and has driven many people to diets, eating disorders and body image issues in attempts to change their outer appearance. Like a kiwi though, it is not about the outside but rather the inside that counts. It is the inside of a kiwi that has the taste, vitamins, minerals, and beautiful colour. I teach people how to find and nurture their inner beauty by addressing their food, mood and attitude.
My Story

I was born and raised in Ottawa, Canada. I moved to Montreal in 1998 to attend McGill University. In 2002, I received a Bachelor of Science in biology with a minor in business. I stayed at McGill to pursue my passion for nutrition and received a Bachelor of Nutritional Science in 2006.

I began my career as a dietitian working at the Ottawa Hospital in 2006. After a year of working in geriatrics and nephrology, I started working at the Regional Centre for the Treatment of Eating Disorders. I helped develop and implement the out-patient program there as well as expanding and being the main dietitian for the symptom interruption hospitalization program.

In 2014, I moved to Toronto and started working at the Centre for Addiction and Mental Health (CAMH). I continued working with clients struggling with eating disorders, as well as helping clients struggling with anxiety, depression and addictions.

In 2016, I moved to the private sector and worked at the Waterstone Clinic, a treatment centre for eating disorders. In 2020 I became a Certified Intuitive Eating Counsellor.

It has always frustrated me how few resources are out there for eating disorders and I love working in the mental health field, especially disordered eating, so I decided to open up my own private practice to continue serving this community.

When I'm not working, I love spending time with my bird Kiwi, as well as my family and friends.
